FAQ

The questions everyone asks before their first box.

Straight answers, no small print. If yours isn’t here, email hello@clearcrate.co.uk — we usually reply the same day.

What happens if you lose or damage my stock?+
Simple: you’re reimbursed at cost. Your goods are insured from the moment they arrive to the moment they ship out, held in an alarmed, CCTV-covered, gated commercial warehouse. If something goes wrong on our watch, we pay for it — no quibbling, no forms fight.
Do you have minimum volumes or a membership fee?+
No minimums and no membership fee. Send one carton a year or two hundred a month — you only pay for what we actually handle. Quiet months cost you nothing. That said, our rates get better with volume, so if you’re shipping consistently, email us and we’ll confirm your rate card.
How fast will my stock get into Amazon?+
Typical turnaround is 24 hours from when we have your complete FBA labels and paperwork. During peak periods (Q4 especially) it can stretch slightly, but we’ll always tell you rather than leave you guessing. Your live stock sheet shows exactly where everything is at any moment.
How do I send you stock? What’s the process?+
Three steps. 1) Email us or use the “Get my rates” form — we confirm your rates and give you your shipping address the same day. 2) Ship your stock to us from anywhere (parcel, pallet, or straight from your supplier) with a packing list. 3) We receive, count, check and log it to a live sheet you can see, then prep and forward to Amazon on your instruction.
Do your prices include VAT?+
Prices on the site exclude VAT; VAT is added to invoices where applicable. Everything is itemised, so your invoice reads exactly like the calculator — no “handling” lines you’ve never heard of.
Is the first carton really free?+
Yes. Your first carton is received, checked and forwarded to Amazon free of charge — one free carton per new seller. It’s the cheapest way to find out if we’re as easy to work with as we say. If we’re not, you’ve lost nothing.
I’m not in the UK. Can I still use you?+
Absolutely — a good chunk of our sellers are overseas. We act as your UK address: your suppliers ship to us, we receive and check everything, and forward into amazon.co.uk FBA. Everything runs over email and your live stock sheet, so the distance never matters.
Are there items you can’t handle?+
Standard service covers items up to 100 cm on the longest side and up to £100 purchase value per unit. Bigger, heavier or higher-value stock isn’t a no — it just gets a fair, written bespoke quote first. Email us with what you’ve got.
How does storage work if my stock sits for months?+
Storage is £20/m³/month, and rates come down for longer holds — email us about long-term storage. If stock is only staging with us for a short spell before forwarding on, that’s free. You’re never forced to ship into Amazon before you’re ready; plenty of sellers use us as a buffer against Amazon’s storage limits.
How do I know what stock you’re actually holding?+
Every delivery is counted, checked and logged to a live sheet you can open any time — what arrived, what’s on the shelf, what’s gone into Amazon. No emailing us for a stock count.
Can my suppliers deliver straight to your warehouse?+
Yes — most sellers do exactly that. Give your supplier our address as the delivery address and the stock never has to touch your house. Just make sure the shipment carries your name or store name and a reference, and add it to your packing list so we can match it to your account the moment it lands.
Do I need to tell you when stock is on the way?+
A quick heads-up with a packing list is all we need — what’s coming, roughly how many, and any reference numbers. It means your delivery is expected, matched and logged the moment it arrives instead of sitting in a mystery pile. Tracking numbers help but aren’t essential.
Who creates the Amazon shipping plan and labels?+
You create the shipment in Seller Central and send us the FBA labels — we take it from there: labelling, boxing to Amazon’s spec and dispatch, typically within 24 hours of having complete labels and paperwork. First time doing it? We’ll happily walk you through it step by step.
Can you handle Amazon removal orders and returns?+
Yes. Point your removal orders at our address and we’ll receive them, inspect what’s sellable (our quality inspection service), re-prep good stock back into FBA, and dispose of anything beyond saving through our disposal service — all itemised at the same published rates.
Can I visit the warehouse?+
Any time — visitors are welcome by appointment, Monday to Saturday. Plenty of sellers like to see where their stock will live and meet Matt and Jim before sending their first carton. We’re at Broadgate, Whaplode Drove, Spalding PE12 0TN.
Why use a prep centre instead of prepping at home?+
Honestly? Sometimes you shouldn’t — if you’re shipping a handful of units a month and enjoy the work, keep the money. But when evenings disappear into polybags and label printers, the maths flips: your time is worth more finding the next profitable product than prepping the last one. That’s the job we take off your plate.
How does billing work? Any setup or hidden fees?+
No setup fee, no subscription, no admin charges. Every job is itemised at the rates published on this site, and your invoice reads exactly like the calculator — the same lines, the same numbers. If a bespoke job ever needs different pricing, you get it in writing before we touch a box.
